You're in business or you are an entrepreneur. You are an Administrative Assistant, a Vice President, or a game-changing public speaker. Any way you look at it, there is something we women have been missing, and I've been noticing it for years of my work with women in business. My clients are often stopped from forward movement, or even greatness, by wanting to be "right", "appropriate", or "good". We Good Girls want to be professional - awesome! But we get held back when we want to say the "right" words, and offer up the "right" talk, and present it in the "right" way. And that stops us as effectively as any hard-nosed parent towering over us, chanting, "NO!" in a booming voice. Forget doing it right! Do it WRONG! Do it your way! Because by trying to do it all right, you are just too far away from the power and magic of authenticity. And you are truly less alive. You can be more alive! And more impactful, whatever your work, and wherever you do it!
So...I had to put this absolutely pivotal, on-point, stirring and critical video on my About page because this is why you need your voice. Yes: Yours! Your squeaky or deep voice, your hesitant or strident voice. Yours! This video says with gut-deep specificity why indulging in fear more than an acknowledgement and a drive to do its opposite, is something we simply don't have time to do. How I wish I'd written this! The thoughts she expresses, the perspective, are so core, so visionary, so clarion-calling, that it is complete genius. We will "change the whole bloody system", just as the wolves did in Yellowstone National Park. We will do it both individually and together - not one or the other, but both. And we will not do it by attacking back, but by being who we are: women who have ingested and adhered to so much of the masculine paradigm, we are needing to be reintroduced to what feminine power even is! And in doing so, we are balancing the social and energetic ecosystems. Our very modes of communication and self-expression and outlook will change - are changing - the landscape. Together and individually, we are shedding the "Little Red Riding Hood cape". And that's good. We wolves never did wear clothing particularly well. |
